RE-ANIMATED at the Venice Biennale, May 9 – August 1, 2019 Palazzo Ca’ Tron Future Generation Art Prize Exhibition, curated by Björn Geldhof & Tatiana Kochubinska and produced by the PinchukArtCentre As part of the Future Generation Art Prize exhibition for the Venice Biennale 2019, a new site-specific installation of RE-ANIMATED was built in a Venetian Renaissance palace, Palazzo Ca’Tron. The new installation merges a digital replica of Kauai with the palazzo’s architecture, which takes on new life as a digitized and incorporated element in RE-ANIMATED’s virtual world. Entering a new landscape framed by two monolithic video screens and mulch-covered floors, viewers immerse themselves in RE-ANIMATED's environment composed of 3D scanned flora and fauna, lichen, rocks and feathers that make up boundary-breaking organic constellations. Hidden microphones connect the breath and voice of the audience to effects in the virtual landscape, and algorithmic, ever-evolving music by collaborator Michael Rieseman completes the world.
